Phuket Nightlife is wide ranging and plentiful. Here’s our breakdown of what to expect and where to find it on Phuket after dark:
Phuket bars range from centralized monoliths on the beach roads, to small drinking huts on the beach, back to sophisticated wine lounges in hotels. The pace, décor and clientele varies greatly, so we’re pretty sure you’ll find one that suits your particular taste.
Phuket beer bars usually comprise of a couple of stools, and counter, and a few girls working the trade. There’s usually a board game on two around somewhere – connect 4 or the like, and in the busier areas these spots make a good vantage point for people watching. Most beer bars in Patong are off Bangla Road in complexes like Tiger, or down sois including Soi Eric, Soi Gonzo, Soi Seadragon and Soi Crocodile. North of Bangla along Rat-U-Thit road is Sukhumvit Rd, which is also a beer bar complex
These are similar to beer bars but the girls will sometimes be dancing. Prices are generally higher for drinks and the service is pushier. There area few small go-go bars on Soi Seadragon, but the majority is on Bangla Road.
Bangla, the beach road and Rat-U-Thit Road in Patong have live music venues (usually Irish pubs) and Phuket Town has a small number of venues that are more Thai orientated. Whatever the night, you’re sure to find some live music entertainment on Phuket.
Plenty of bars around the island show live sport, predominantly the English Premiership. Live matches usually start at around 9pm Thai time and continue into the early hours of the morning. Rugby, Aussie Rules and Formula One are also popular. For pool, head down to Bangla Road in Patong. The favoured game is 8-ball and winner stays on. Write your name on the board and wait your turn.
Phuket's major discos are line Patong, the entertainment centre of the island. The entrance fee or cover charge some times includes one or two drinks. Although Patong takes centre stage for nightlife, it’s worth looking around the island for something that suits your style.
Bars, nightclubs, karaoke massage and go-go bars, this is the single male orientated centre of West coast Thailand nightlife and it lives up to its name. The action is focused on Bangla Road and Soi Sunset.
Karon has plenty of beer bars and a live music and nightclub venue. It’s also home to Phuket Fantasea, the night-time theme park.
Phuket Town nightlife is Thai orientated and much cheaper than in Patong. It’s certainly worth a look if you want to escape the international crowd.
Nightlife in Karon is in Karon Circle and Luang Pho Chuan Road, with some quieter bars located on Patak Road (East). Kata has some reasonable nightlife, too.
